Curriculum

As a Catholic school we firmly believe that Religious Education is the foundation of the entire educational process. Prayer and liturgical celebrations are an important aspect of school life, unifying the hearts and minds of all associated with the school and ensuring we are all working to achieve the best possible education for the children in our care.

The mystery of life is explored within the tradition of the Catholic faith, whilst recognising that we live in a multifaith community.

We follow the National Curriculum and therefore study Religious Education, English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Design and Technology, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Music, Art and P.E., French, Swimming, Recorder and Cookery are also included in the curriculum.

ICT forms an integral part of our cross curriculum teaching. All pupils have routine access to our state-of the-art ICT facilities including high speed internet access. The Performing Arts have an important place in the curriculum and children are regularly given the opportunity to utilise their talents to the full in class assemblies, liturgical celebrations and school plays and concerts.

We are most fortunate to have access to the facilities of the High School.

Extra Curricular Activities

These include Ballet, Elocution and Drama, a range of instrumental and voice lessons, Irish Dancing and a modern language. Children also have the opportunity to join the school choir and orchestra and to participate in various clubs including sports, computer and chess.

House System

Children in each class are divided into four houses. Good work and behaviour are regularly rewarded with house-points, merit stickers and certificates.

Equal Opportunities

We aim to promote an awareness of what we all have in common as children of a loving God. We believe that every child should have equal access to the curriculum, play and social development and we are proud of our thriving learning support department. Our curriculum reflects a multi-cultural society. We hope to develop a positive self-esteem and expect everyone in our school to respect others whatever their race, gender, culture, religion, class, ability or disability. We encourage awareness and understanding of each others differences and will not accept verbal or physical abuse of any kind, stereotyping or disrespect.
