Intentions
The school understands the teaching of science to be about:

Aims
- To develop awe and wonder for God's creation.
- To offer children a balanced programme of study.
- To enable children to see Science as an exciting and motivating subject with relevance to today's world.
- To foster children's natural curiosity through productive questioning and practical investigations.
- To develop the confidence required to explore and investigate their own ideas.
- To develop in children a range of skills:
- to think logically and creatively
- to observe, question and hypothesise
- to plan, predict and carry out practical investigations
- to obtain and present evidence
- to consider and evaluate evidence
- to record, interpret and communicate scientific findings
- to apply scientific knowledge
- to use equipment correctly and safely
- to relate tests to the everyday world
- to understand and apply the concept of a fair test
- to locate and collect relevant information
- To encourage a respect for the environment and a responsible attitude to the natural world.
- To understand how their bodies work and how best to keep safe and healthy.
