At this school children will have opportunities to draw and paint from direct observation, to use a range of processes and techniques and there will be opportunities to visit galleries and museums.
Sketchbooks are used in KS2

• At this school the following areas of study outline the basis for a balanced programme of art activities
• Drawing
• Painting
• Collage/textiles
• 3D modeling
• Clay
• Printing

With these areas of study we provide opportunities for the children to:
 Observe and record
 Discuss and develop ideas
 Explore a variety of materials and mediums
 Review and modify
 Study a variety of artists and art styles
 Apply knowledge acquired
 Evaluate their own work and that of other artists

Health and Safety
 
• Children are encouraged to handle all materials and equipment in a safe manner and with regard to their personal care and safety and that of their peers
• All children are to wear protective clothing and, if necessary, goggles when using art and design materials
• Storage of equipment must follow Health and Safety guidelines e.g. appropriate storage of craft knives
